The weather cooperated this year — it wouldn’t dare rain on a dragon parade, would it? — as San Francisco gathered Saturday to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

This year’s parade featured a new dragon, which will be on display at Three Embarcadero Center this week, according to this SF Public Press article — which also details the history of SF’s Chinese parades going back to the mid-19th century.

Tickets sold out well in advance, perhaps because attendees wanted the best glimpse of grand marshal (and rapper and actor) Awkwafina.

Seeing the star in the back of a convertible couldn’t hold a candle to her breakout video (NSFW!) or award-winning film role, so our art director Jeremy LaCroix focused elsewhere during the parade.

Jeremy LaCroix, aka Jerry Business, is The Frisc’s art director.
